Meanwhile, the rest of the country is expected to have another wintry day, with local rain and wind in northern and central Israel. Thursday is expected to be partly cloudy and chilly, with high waves in the Mediterranean.

Despite the heavy rainfalls on Wednesday, this week saw a further drop in the water level of the Sea of Galilee, Israel’s largest body of fresh water. While the rain did slow down the reduction rate of the water, sea level dropped by 1.5 centimeters (0.6 inches) this week. The current water level stands at a -210.73 meters, meaning 1.93 more meters of water are needed to reach the sea’s full capacity.

However, the weekend is due to bring a rise in temperatures. Friday and Saturday will see warmer weather and are due to be unseasonably hot and dry for December.

The rise in temperature continues a trend recorded last month, which was one of the hottest November recorded in Israel according to data by Israel Meteorological Service.

Compared to average temperatures, November’s temperatures throughout the country were two to three degrees Celsius (35.6- 37.4 degrees Fahrenheit) higher during the day, and one to 2.5 degrees Celsius higher at night in areas away from the coast, with rainfall also being below average.
